- Why choose a natural gas generator?
- Natural gas generators tap into your existing utility gas line, so there's no fuel storage, no refilling, and no fuel that goes stale. They're the default fuel for whole-home standby installs because runtime is effectively unlimited as long as gas service is intact.
- Can the same generator run on propane (LP)?
- Most home standby generators are dual-rated for natural gas and LP — you select the fuel at install. Output ratings are usually slightly different between fuels; check the spec sheet on the product page or ask us for the exact derate.
- Do I need a plumber to hook up the gas line?
- Yes. The fuel line connection must be sized correctly for the BTU draw of the generator and meet local code. Our NC/SC installs include the plumbing connection in the quote. Outside our service area, we recommend coordinating with a licensed plumber and electrician.
- Do natural gas generators ship free?
- Yes. Eligible standby units running on natural gas or LP ship free to the contiguous 48 states.
